Offsite Awards 2021: Integra Buildings shortlisted for industry Oscars

Integra Buildings is in the running for two industry Oscars at the prestigious Offsite Awards.

The annual event celebrates the very best of the UK’s thriving offsite construction industry.

Integra, one of the nation’s leading providers of bespoke modular buildings, has been shortlisted for Contractor of the Year and Education Project of the Year.

The nominations recognise the outstanding success of Integra’s biggest project to date – a state-of-the-art academy for Severn Trent Water.

Officially opened by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the Severn Trent Academy, in Coventry, provides a purpose-built centre of excellence for technical training as part of a wider £10m programme delivering skills to Severn Trent’s 7,000 staff, as well as thousands of members of the community.

Severn Trent has described the building as “an amazing space in which to learn”.

Meanwhile, a second of Integra’s projects, the new Springhead Park Primary School, in Northfleet, Kent, is in the running for a further two awards. Bond Bryan, the architects who designed the school, have been shortlisted for Best Use of Volumetric Technology, and the BIM/Digital Construction award.

Gary Parker, Integra’s Managing Director, said: “The Offsite Awards are renowned for recognising excellence and innovation in our industry, so we’re thrilled to be nominated.

“Our team has demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication to deliver outstanding projects such as the Severn Trent Academy and Springhead Park Primary School, during what have been very challenging times for us all.

“We’re competing against some superb projects and businesses on the shortlists, which goes to show just how strong the modular and offsite sector is at the moment. We’re looking forward to all coming together to celebrate the industry and we wish the best of luck to everyone who is up for awards.”

Integra is delivering a series of outstanding projects to schools and training providers as the offsite building revolution gathers pace in the education sector.

The Severn Trent Academy is a prime example of how modern modular techniques are transforming the construction sector by delivering projects faster and more efficiently than traditional methods, without compromising on quality.

Integra deployed cutting-edge offsite technology and demonstrated exceptional relationships with Severn Trent and the offsite supply chain in order to ensure that the project was delivered on time and within cost expectations, despite the Covid crisis and the unprecedented disruption it wrought on the construction industry. Severn Trent said their design aspirations had been “met in full”.

The Springhead Park Primary School, which has capacity for 420 pupils, features a striking and distinctive modern design. Headteacher Wayne Clayton described the offsite building process as “quite astounding”.

He added: “Just wow! It’s not a conventional-looking building, it wasn’t built in the conventional way, but wow.

“It has been a pleasure to see Integra work from start to finish. #makeitmodular!”

The winners of the Offsite Awards will be announced in a ceremony at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, on Tuesday September 21.
